Congratulations Summit Awardees
09 September, 2024
Congratulations to this year's Summit Awards recipients. We are so grateful to work with organizations and people who are willing to go above and beyond, try new things, get involved, and open their hearts and minds to supporting others in health. This year's honorees are pictured here with NCC Board President Melissa Davies and Sen. Jacky Rosen's Community Liaison Molly Rose Lewis:
Katrina Kozak, Rising Star Award
Katrina is a medical student at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine and has become engaged in cancer control by volunteering with NCC, developing education programs for sun safety and HPV vaccination, participating in NCC collaboratives, and conducting community research. She's definitely a star on the rise!
Liliana Cueva, Prevention & Early Detection Champion
Liliana is the Oncology Community Healthcare Specialist at Renown Health and she takes her job very seriously. She's involved in numerous cancer task forces and collaboratives, always brings new ideas to the table, and is an invaluable asset to the community.
B&A Entertainment Services, Inc. Equity Impact Champion
It was easy to select B&A Entertainment Services - Linda Willis (pictured here) and Cheryl Ballard and all of their volunteers - to honor with the award this year. They have been reaching out to women in the African-American community for years, educating them on the importance of breast cancer screening. Joining forces in 2022 with NCC they have only become more powerful in their ability to connect with women and get them into screening.
Natalie Stevenson, Survivorship Champion
Natalie is a gift to our community, not only for the lives with cancer she has impacted but also for those of us lucky enough to work in this field and know her. She founded Cancer Community Clubhouse to build a space for northern Nevada survivors to connect and get support from others, and in just three short years not only built the organization but landed it a physical space for programming. She exudes a warmth, compassion, and perseverance that is unmatched!
Renown Health, Healthcare Partner of the Year
Our partners at Renown Health have for years demonstrated a commitment to partnership and a passion for helping Nevadans improve their health and reduce the burden of cancer in our state. From prevention and early detection to treatment and survivorship, they have made a mark. We are blessed to have had members of their cancer care team on our Board of Directors for years and team members participating in task forces and collaboratives, outreach events, and community programs.
