A new report outlining the burden of obesity in Nevada was recently released by the State's Division of Public and Behavioral Health, providing data on childhood and adult obesity and focus areas for reducing the number of obese or overweight Nevadans.
Obesity is associated with increased risk of numerous cancer types, including colon, kidney, thyroid, pancreas, gallbladder, and breast (after menopause) cancers. NCC and partners included two obesity-related goals within the recently published 2016-2020 Nevada State Cancer Plan. The goals, which focus on adults and children, focus on policies to promote physical activity and healthy living. Access the state cancer plan here.
