Summit Speaker Series: Karin Klove, M.D.

08 August, 2016

The 2016 Nevada Cancer Control Summit brings together expert speakers from throughout the region to discuss the latest topics in cancer control. In the months leading up to this year’s Summit, scheduled for September 15 at Springs Preserve in Las Vegas, join us to learn more about our roster of speakers.

When do you recommend women begin screening for breast cancer? And how often? What’s the best screening tool for that particular patient, and how can you ensure they receive the exam you intended? How can you help patients navigate through a sea of information on dense breast tissue, BRCA testing, and other risk factors? Breast surgeon Dr. Karin Klove delves into all of this and more in “Breast Cancer Screening and Diagnosis” at this year’s Summit.

Dr. Klove is a leader in the field of breast care and surgical oncology and in recent years spearheaded efforts to move Saint Mary’s Breast Center to the next level of excellence in breast care. Her collaboration with primary care physicians and breast specialists focused on assisting them in providing the best comprehensive cancer care possible for patients with breast cancer. In addition to serving as a physician advisor for Saint Mary’s Breast Center, she was physician advisor for the Saint Mary’s Galena Campus during development of the imaging center at that location.

Dr. Klove earned her medical doctorate from USC. She went on to complete her internship in general surgery and urology at the USC Medical Center, where she also completed residencies in general surgery/urology, obstetrics/gynecology and general surgery. Board-certified by the American Board of Surgery, Dr. Klove has served as associate professor of surgery at UC Davis as well as a staff surgeon with various medical groups and hospitals, including Sutter Medical Group, Greenville Hospital System and the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Reno.
