Summit Speaker Series: Mark Winkler, MD
06 June, 2016
The 2016 Nevada Cancer Control Summit brings together expert speakers from throughout the region to discuss the latest topics in cancer control. In the months leading up to this year’s Summit, scheduled for September 15 at Springs Preserve in Las Vegas, join us to learn more about our roster of speakers.
With recent news of an NCI study on models to identify candidates for low-dose CT screening for lung cancer, we are excited to have Dr. Mark Winkler scheduled to discuss Lung Cancer Screening and Prevention at this year’s Summit.
Dr. Winkler is a founding partner of Steinberg Diagnostic Medical Imaging Centers (SDMI) in Las Vegas, Nevada where he oversees the practice’s acquisition and installation of medical imaging technology. Keeping one foot firmly planted in academia, Dr. Winkler has passionately worked to reduce radiation dose in medical imaging and increase patient safety. In his role as Director of Toshiba America Medical System’s Medical Advisory Board, he has helped pioneer new medical imaging protocols such as “Ultra-Low Dose” CT scanning, which has been adopted by some of the most advanced medical institutions around the world, including SDMI.
Dr. Winkler has an impressive education: he obtained his medical degree from Brown University, completed his internship at Stanford, and his residency and MRI fellowship training at University of California, San Francisco.
