Join the Mountain West Cancer Collaborative for a webinar focused on reducing alcohol-related cancer risk in the Mountain West. Presenters will explore the latest research on alcohol consumption and its link to cancer, highlight evidence-based interventions, successful community-based programs, and explore opportunities to collaborate with substance use prevention professionals to collectively reduce cancer risk. Additionally, we will discuss workforce development opportunities designed to build future leaders in cancer prevention.

Last Thursday, March 27, a contingent of cancer control professionals working in states across the Mountain West traveled together to Washington D.C. to share local insights with congressional representatives. The group represented Nevada, Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, and Montana and was organized by a team from Huntsman Cancer Institute, a National Cancer Institute cancer center that serves communities in all five states.
April is the awareness month for both Head & Neck cancers and Testicular cancer. NCC has pulled together quick facts for you to share for both of these.
Every March the team from Nevada Cancer Coalition hits the road, traveling along Interstate 80 to attend the popular Humboldt General Hospital Health Fair in Winnemucca and the Elko Community Health Fair in Elko. We love attending these events because they give us an opportunity to reconnect with community members, share the latest information on cancer prevention and early detection, and visit with partners we don't often get to see in-person.
A bill to improve access to lung cancer screening with low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) received support on Friday, March 21 from a number of statewide organizations who testified in favor of the legislation. Senate Bill 387, sponsored by Senator Roberta Lange, would add lung cancer screening to the list of cancer screenings required to be covered by Nevada insurers with no cost sharing or copays.
Rural communities across the country face severe physician shortages, making it harder for residents to access quality health care. To address this issue, U.S. Senators Jacky Rosen (D-NV) and John Boozman (R-AR) introduced the Physicians for Underserved Areas Act, which would ensure that when hospitals close, residency slots are redistributed to areas in need.
Join us for a discussion on the emerging role of self-collection for cervical cancer screening and its potential to improve access, especially in rural and trauma-informed care settings. Learn about the SHIP Trial, how self-collection compares to traditional screening methods, and when we might expect to see broader implementation.
