Stanford Medicine: Cancer Survivorship Course for Primary Care Physicians

Stanford Medicine developed this online course that presents basic principles of cancer survivorship and is specifically targeted to meet the learning needs of primary care physicians. Drs. Stephanie Smith, Jennifer Kim and Lidia Schapira, in partnership with Stanford’s School of Medicine Ed-Tech team launched the course. It provides practical tips and tools that can be easily integrated into the scope of practice or primary care physicians who are essential partners in keeping cancer survivors healthy.

Lung Cancer Screening: Best Practice for Your Patients

Part of the 2020 Recommendations and Best Practices for Cancer Screenings Series, this session focuses on assessment of patients for lung cancer screening along with national best practices and barriers to accessing screening.

Lung Cancer Collaborative

Lung cancer prevention and early detection advocates--and any survivors!--are invited to join us as we work together to achieve objectives and implement strategies outlined in the Nevada Cancer Plan. That includes tobacco use and exposure, radon exposure, and lung cancer screening. The group meets quarterly, usually for 1.5 hours.

Valerie joined NCC in October 2021 as the Coalition's first southern Nevada staff member. Valerie was born in Los Angeles, California and has lived in Las Vegas for nearly two decades. She is excited to bring her years of experience and resources as a Case Manager to NCC to support Nevadans. She has a Bachelor of Science in Human Service Counseling from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, her fur baby, cooking, traveling, and self-care.
