Studies have shown the use of inflatable colons in community outreach settings, both urban and rural, can improve knowledge of and interest in colorectal cancer (CRC) screening.
See how having a giant inflatable colon at your outreach event can complement other clinical efforts to improve colorectal cancer screening rates. This guide includes a list of additional interventions that can be used.
In case you missed it, NCC is growing. From just four years ago when NCC was a team of three, we’re now a team of eight! Late last year we added Valerie Martinez to our team, and over the past month we’ve hired Jorge Arambula, Darcy Phillips and Michelle Lambert.
We’ve heard the reasoning, and you may have as well. Some people say they choose not to use sunscreen because of the chemicals on the ingredient list. We also agree that some of those ingredients can be hard to pronounce and are unfamiliar.
We also know that skin cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the U.S. and it’s often very preventable by protecting one’s skin, including using sunscreen. Let’s take a look a closer look at sunscreens to see what the experts say.
Many people don’t know what lymphedema is until it affects them or someone they know. However, it’s not an uncommon side effect from cancer treatment. Anywhere from three to five million Americans are affected by it.

Michelle joined NCC in February 2022. She has a Bachelor of Science from the University of Nevada, Reno in Human Services/Psychology. She has 20 years of financial and accounting experience. Michelle is a proud mom to two beautiful daughters. In her free time she enjoys skiing, camping, hiking, exploring nature and spending time with her husband and two fur babies.

Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer for both men and women in the U.S., excluding skin cancer. Early detection could save your life. Those at average risk should begin regular colorectal cancer screening at age 45.
Summerlin Hospital offers several types of screening methods, including colonoscopy. So, what are you waiting for?
